I would think that readers who haven't seen the product / R&D side of the IT business might not agree with Manish here. I have a similar work experience as Manish ... I worked for a product company for years and then was hired by a services org to run their product R&D outsourcing business. I have seen both sides of the IT business (Products and Services). Most of the services organizations focus on the next $100mn billable FTEs and not developing the next iPhone or the next Chrome OS. This model works - but for how long... My experience tells me that the shepherd needs some nice juicy grass to feed the sheep (my programmers) everyday... and the services organizations need to think about that.

Nice blog Manish... very intriguing and informative!!
